MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4247.82 points, up by 0.16 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.27 per cent at 488.99 points.

Dhofar Cattle Feed, up 8.7 per cent, was the top gainer, and Renaissance Services, down 3.56 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Muscat Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 737 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.47 million, with more than 19.61 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 15 advanced, 11 declined, and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR 92,000 and foreign investors for OMR11,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6742.84 points, up 0.52 per cent. Prices of Muscat Finance, National Bank Oman, Bank Dhofar, Oman United Insurance, Oman Arab Bank and HSBC Bank Oman were up by 4.29 per cent, 3.67 per cent, 1.75 per cent, 1.7 per cent, 1.58 per cent, and 0.89 per cent respectively. Prices of Global Financial Investments, Oman & Emirates Investment, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Anwar Investment, and United Finance were down by 2.38 per cent, 2.3 per cent, 2.06 per cent, 1.02 per cent, and 0.96 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6183.41 points, down 0.18 per cent. Prices of Dhofar Cattle Feed, Al Maha Ceramics, and Galfar Engineering were up by 8.7 per cent, 1.17 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, National Aluminium and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 2.17 per cent, 2.08 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.09 per cent before closing at 1662.02 points. Prices of Sohar Power, Al Batinah Power, Oman National Engineering, OIFC, and Al Jazeera Services were up by 7.69 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.35 per cent, and 1.33 per cent respectively. Prices of Renaissance Services were down by 3.56 per cent respectively.
