MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,137.46 points, up by 0.21 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.34 per cent at 477.87 points.

Dhofar Generating Company, up by 3.77 per cent, was the top gainer while Muscat Gases, down by 6.88 per cent, was the top loser. Galfar Engineering & Contracting was the most active in terms of the number of units traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 869 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.99 million, with more than 24.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded securities, 16 advanced, 9 declined and 23 remained unchanged.

Financial Index closed at 6,634.81 points, up by 0.01 per cent. Prices of Al Sharqia Investment and Bank Muscat were up by 3.33 per cent and 2.38 per cent respectively. Prices of Ahli Bank, Al Anwar Investment and Muscat Finance were down by 1.67 per cent, 1.02 per cent and 1.64 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,998.93 points, up by 0.30 per cent over the previous close. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramic and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 0.47 per cent and 1.58 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Cement and Raysut Cement were down by 0.43 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.64 per cent before closing at 1,615.61 points. The price of Al Jazeera Services, Oman Investment & Finance and Renaissance Services was up by 3.20 per cent, 2.17 per cent and 1.45 per cent respectively. The price of Oman Telecom was down by 0.46 per cent.
