MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,128.64 points, up by 0.09 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.320 per cent at 476.26 points.

Galfar Engineering & Contracting, up by 8.14 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Hassan Engineering, down by 34.38 per cent, was the top loser. Galfar Engineering & Contracting was the most active in terms of the number of units traded and turnover.

A total number of 1137 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.87 million, with more than 32.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 54 traded securities, 14 advanced, 18 declined and 22 remained unchanged.

Financial Index closed at 6,633.86 points, up by 0.59 per cent. Prices of Ahli Bank, Al Sharqia Investment, AlAnwar Investment and Vision Insurance were up by 3.45 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 3.16 per cent and 3.81 per cent respectively. The prices of, Omnivest, and Sohar International Bank were down by 1.24 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Omaniya Financial Services, Bank Muscat, Muscat Finance and Oman United Insurance remained unchanged.

Industrial Index closed at 5,980.99 points, down by 0.37 per cent over the previous close. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramic, Al Maha Ceramics and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 2.29 per cent, 5.93 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Cables Industries, Oman Cement, Oman Flour Mills and Raysut Cement remained unchanged.

Services Index was down by 0.40 per cent before closing at 1,605.36 points. Prices of Al Jazeera Services and Oman Investment & Finance were up by 1.44 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively. Prices of National Gas, Oman Telecom, Ooredo and Renaissance Services were down by 2.8 per cent, 0.92 per cent, 0.6 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Maha Marketing and Jazerah Services remained unchanged.
