MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,124.94 points, down by 1.91 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.08 per cent at 477.78 points.

Al Madina Investments, up 6.98 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman Qatar Insurance, down 8.45 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 464 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR5.17 million, with more than 13.40 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 10 advanced, 13 declined, and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR113,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR86,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR27,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,594.7 points, down 2.49 per cent. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Al Anwar Investment, and Al Madina Takaful were up by 6.98 per cent, 3.26 per cent, and 1.08 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Qatar Insurance, National Bank Oman, Ominvest, Sohar International, and Ahli Bank were down by 8.45 per cent, 6.83 per cent, 5.29 per cent, 4.35 per cent, and 3.33 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,003.44 points, up 0.06 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium, and Voltamp Energy were up by 3.33 per cent, 3.19 per cent, and 1.63 per cent respectively. Prices of Galfar Engineering were down by 2.27 per cent.

Services Index was down by 0.35 per cent before closing at 1,611.79 points. Prices of Oman Education & Training, Oman National Engineering, and Al Jazeera Services were up by 3.38 per cent, 1.98 per cent, and 0.73 per cent respectively. Prices of Renaissance Services, OIFC, and Oman Telecom were down by 2.79 per cent, 0.73 per cent, and 0.46 per cent respectively.
