The first day of Ramadan 2022 has been announced in Oman

Muscat: Sunday, April 3, will be the first day of Ramadan, Oman’s Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs announced.

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) said in a statement: “The committee has not received any evidence of sighting of the crescent, therefore it announces that i.e. Saturday (2nd April 2022) will mark the end of Sha'ban 1443 AH, and Sunday (3 April 2022) will mark the beginning of Holy Ramadan 1443 AH. On this blessed occasion, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is pleased to deliver its sincere congratulations and good wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, May the Almighty Allah protect Him and grant Him good health.”

"The main committee for moon sighting has met this evening , Friday 29th Sha'ban 1443 AH (1st April 2022) , chaired by H.E. Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Salmi , Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, and with the following as members: His Eminence Shaikh Ahmad bin Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Khalili, Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman. H.E. Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior. H.E. Dr. Mohamed bin Said bin Khalfan Al Mamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry Endowments and Religious Affairs. Shaikh Mohamed bin Salim bin Mohamed Al Akhzami, Supreme Court Judge, Shaikh Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Sattar bin Ahmad Al Kamali, Chairman of the Court of Appeal in Musandam Governorate, Shaikh Mohamad bin Salim bin Dahman Al Nahdi Appeal Court Judge.
