MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,202.57 points, up by 0.18 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.88 per cent at 481.36 points.

Dhofar Cattle Feed, up 5.00 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman Packaging, down 9.87 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of United Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 898 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR8.42 million, with more than 79.95 million shares changing hands. Out of 49 traded securities, 21 advanced, 8 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers of OMR2.72 million while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers of OMR2.59 million followed by foreign investors for OMR135,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,786.33 points, up 0.46 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance, National Bank Oman and Oman Arab Bank were up by 4.49 per cent, 3.70 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 3.06 per cent, and 2.50 per cent respectively. Prices of Bank Dhofar, and Al Madina Takaful were down by 2.54 per cent, and 1.06 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,231.78 points, up 0.24 per cent. Prices of Dhofar Cattle Feed, National Aluminium, Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries, and A’Saffa Foods were up by 5.00 per cent, 4.40 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 1.12 per cent, and 0.90 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Packaging, Oman Cement, Jazeera Steel Products, and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 9.87 per cent, 2.54 per cent, 0.51 per cent, and 0.46 per cent respectively.   

Services Index was up by 0.46 per cent before closing at 6,964.79 points. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, Al Jazeera Services, Oman National Engineering, National Gas, and Oman Telecom were up by 2.47 per cent, 2.26 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.42 per cent, and 0.47 per cent respectively. Prices of SMN Power Holding and Renaissance Services were down by 2.27 per cent, and 0.47 per cent respectively.
