GCC central bank governors discuss cybersecurity
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), participated in the 78th meeting of GCC Committee for Central Banks Governors.

Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), participated in the 78th meeting of GCC Committee for Central Banks Governors, held at the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Tuesday.

Oman’s delegation was headed by Tahir Salim Al Amri, CBO’s Executive President.

The Committee discussed the supervision and oversight over the banking sector in the GCC, as well as the payment systems, GCC FinTech developments and banking cyber security.

Further, the Committee reviewed the new developments within the framework of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism in the banking sector.

The Committee reviewed the topics proposed by the GCC countries to be studied by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) within the context of the joint meeting between finance ministers and governors of central banks in the GCC countries and the IMF Managing Director.
