Muscat: The Capital Market Authority (CMA) commenced its training programmes for insurance agents with Insurance Agents Certificate.
To enable the insurance agents and improve their aptitude in sales, customer service and excellence in work teams leadership, this is the series of annual training programmes of the national Tamkeen initiative which aims to empower the national cadres in the insurance sector to achieve the government’s strategy of enhancing the role of the private sector to accommodate the graduates to add economic value.
The training programme which began on March 27 will continue till March 31 in collaboration with the College of Banking and Financial Studies.
The programme aims to acquaint the participants with the principles of insurance, insurance policy, standard insurance policies, marketing and customer service as well as the laws and rules of the business of insurance agents and other developments related to insurance agents.
The CMA adopts annually, within the Tamkeen plans, a set of specialised training programmes for insurance agents to gain the skills required in sales and customer service.
The importance of the programmes comes from the significance of the insurance agents business which is an intermediation activity in the insurance sector as the agent is concerned with marketing the insurance service for one licensed insurance company. The activity is regulated under the Insurance Agents Regulation issued in 2016. Insurance agents are one of the pillars of the insurance sector as main sales outlets for insurance companies and key partners for marketing insurance services. The number of licensed insurance agents is 137 agents in 2021 in the governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate.
