Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,232.54 points, down by 1.04 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended down by 0.25 per cent at 486.12 points. Galfar Engineering, up 3.61 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman National Engineering, down 8.41 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 735 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR7.63 million, with more than 25.47 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 7 advanced, 23 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR240,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR193,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR47,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,753.69 points, down 1.26 per cent. Prices of United Finance, Oman & Emirates Investment, Global Financial Investments, Al Madina Takaful, and National Finance were up by 3.53 per cent, 2.74 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.09 per cent, and 0.84 per cent respectively. Prices of National Bank Oman, Muscat Finance, HSBC Bank Oman, Sohar International Bank, and Al Sharqia Investment were down by 4.85 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 2.46 per cent, 1.72 per cent, and 1.22 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,991.89 points, down 0.35 per cent. Prices of Galfar Engineering were up by 3.61 per cent. Prices of Raysut Cement, Jazeera Steel Products, National Aluminium, and Oman Cement were down by 4.62 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.15 per cent, and 0.42 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 1.07 per cent before closing at 1,610.72 points. Prices of Al Batinah Power were up by 2.08 per cent. Prices of Oman National Engineering, Dhofar Generating, Sohar Power, Shell Oman Marketing, and Al Jazeera Services were down by 8.41 per cent, 7.02 per cent, 4.65 per cent, 4.53 per cent, and 2.57 per cent respectively.
