Cairo: Arab Health Ministers Council to discuss strategic preparedness and response plan for pandemics in the Arab countries at the 56th regular session in Cairo, Egypt.

Oman's delegation is chaired by Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health.

The Minister of Health and President of the Arab Board of Health Specializations Supreme Council participated yesterday in the preparatory meeting of the Executive Bureau for the 56th session of the Arab Health Ministers Council to discuss the item on (ABHS).

Dr. Ahmed will take part also in the 56th ordinary session of the Arab Health Ministers Council to be held on Thursday.

The meeting will discuss spectrum of items and recommendations and adopt decisions related to various health aspects of Arab common interest.

The most important topics are the leading Arab experience in the health field, Arab Doctor Award, in addition to the project of Arab strategy and its implementation mechanism to unite efforts to ensure the provision of vaccines and fair distribution to Arab countries, and unifying Arab efforts to combat drugs.

The meeting will additionally address the Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan for Pandemics in the Arab countries as the centerpiece of the 56th regular session of the Arab Health Ministers Council.

Topics related to the ABHS will also be discussed in order to enhance the role of the Council and implement its programs and activities in the next stage to support and develop health systems and services in the Arab world. In addition, the contributions of the Arab Fund for Health Development to support Arab countries facing health crises and disasters will be reviewed.

The Arab Health Ministers Council meeting is an annual event that brings together Arab health leaders and officials to be involved in enriching scientific discussions, which would yield benefits for the health systems and population of the Arab countries. The meeting is additionally reviewing current challenges faced by the Arab health systems and searching for appropriate solutions according to epidemiological variables and regional and global health trends.

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health, is taking part in the 56th session of the Arab Health Ministers Council, in Cairo, Egypt.
