Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority has initiated action against persons in charge of a site used to store large quantities of iron, with the intent of creating a false shortage.
The crackdown came after a clip was circulated in social media, showing large quantities of iron being stored at a site, with the owners claiming that there was no stock available.
In response to the circulated clip, the authority explained: “About the video clip, we inform you that the authority immediately started necessary procedures and the site was visited to verify the information that was published. Legal procedures are being completed, and the authority confirms that it is proceeding with its goal to stabilise the markets. It would always protect the rights of consumers in the Sultanate."
