Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai brings ‘Kutir’ from London to Shangri-La Al Husn, Muscat

After a decade on London’s restaurant scene, one of the culinary world’s most in-demand Michelin-starred chefs, Chef Rohit Ghai, joins Shangri-La Al Husn, Muscat at Sultanah for five nights only from 23 to 27 March 2022 paired with the enchanting live performance of a saxophonist and vocalist.

On this visiting stint, Chef Rohit will present an exquisite culinary experience as he delights  guests of the fine-dining restaurant Sultanah with a carefully curated menu featuring his trademark interpretation of Indian cuisine. He will treat Muscat diners to a series of elegant and bespoke dishes during his kitchen takeover.

Earning a Michelin star within a record-breaking time of 10 months post opening Jamavar in London’s Mayfair, Chef Rohit has won praise from celebrities and dignitaries, as well as some of Britain’s most discerning food critics. He is well-regarded worldwide for his innovative cooking techniques and ability to blend authentic Indian dishes with contemporary fine-dining presentation.

Chef Rohit’s international career began in 2008 when he joined Michelin-starred Benares in London’s Mayfair, where he developed an understanding of the British palate and French techniques.  In 2013, as a talented rising star in the London restaurant scene, his created flair for cooking earned him a role as executive chef of two Michelin-starred restaurants, Trishna and Gymkhana.

Rohit Ghai opened his first solo site, Kutir in late 2018. Kutir is co-founded by Ghai and Abhi Sangwan who met during their time at Gymkhana, Bombay Bustle and Hoppers, and translated from Sanskrit means 'a small cottage in the middle of nowhere.' Kutir menu draws inspiration from the royal tradition of hunting expeditions in the luscious forests and jungles of the Indian countryside. The food is representative of the feasting-style, convivial and celebratory dining that occurs on these retreats, and menus feature highly seasonal ingredients with an emphasis on game and seafood and offers a tasting, or ‘expedition’ menu of 6 tasting courses.

Chef Rohit brought Kutir to Dubai for the first time at Expo 2020 under ‘The Never Been Seen Collection’, which garnered amazing interest among visiting culinary enthusiasts and has been a resounding success.

“We are excited to welcome an international acclaimed chef of this calibre to Shangri-La Al Husn. Chef Rohit Ghai brings to the kitchen and table a wealth of experience and creative vision which diversifies from traditional Indian cuisine,” General Manager Sandro Mazza said of the chef’s visit.  “Our culinary team looks forward to learning from him in the pursuit of continuous growth and culinary excellence. Chef Rohit’s visit will add new flavours and colours to our resort’s dining scene as we continue delighting our guests with our series of immersive culinary experiences at Oman’s exclusive clifftop retreat.”
