Muscat: The Office of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in the Sultanate of Oman has lauded the efforts of Oman in taking effective measures to reflect the importance of groundwater in devising policies of sustainable development through various projects.
This was stated on Monday for World Water Day, which falls on 22 March each year. This year’s celebration is themed “Groundwater – Making the Invisible Visible”.
The FAO Office in Oman added that the project of building a resilient environment and sustainable agriculture and water resources in Oman is one of its kind. Groundwater is an essential element in ensuring that the ecosystem functions properly, it added.
