MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,314.88 points, down by 0.02 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.11 per cent at 491.25 points.

Voltamp Energy, up 4.35 per cent, was the top gainer while, United Finance, down 2.44 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 409 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.2 million, with more than 9.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded securities, 8 advanced, 7 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR192,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR135,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR57,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6948.43 points, was down 0.33 per cent. The price of Bank Muscat was up by 0.36 per cent.  Prices of United Finance, Ominvest, Oman Arab Bank, Al Madina Takaful, and Sohar International Bank were down by 2.44 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.03 per cent, and 0.86 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6012.79 points, was up 0.29 per cent. Prices of Voltamp Energy, National Aluminium, Jazeera Steel Products, Al Anwar Ceramics, and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 4.35 per cent, 2.41 per cent, 0.94 per cent, 0.44 per cent, and 0.4 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Oman Ceramics, Gulf Stones, Al Hassan Engineering, and Abrasives Manufacturing were down by 1.14 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.25 per cent before closing at 1632 points. Prices of Ooredoo, Renaissance Services, OIFC, National Gas, and Al Jazeera Services were up by 1.77 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively. The price of Oman National Engineering was down 0.88 per cent.
