Muscat: The seasonal influenza vaccine will be available at the health institutions in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman for people with chronic diseases, aged 65 years and above, and who are heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform the rituals of Umrah, Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
"The Ministry of Health announces to citizens and residents that the seasonal influenza vaccine is given to people suffering from chronic diseases, those aged 65 years and above, and who are heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform the rituals of Umrah, where taking the vaccine is one of the conditions imposed by the Kingdom to perform the rituals, " MOH said in a statement.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Health calls on the aforementioned groups to go to the nearest health institution to take the seasonal influenza vaccine, in order to avoid infection with influenza that affects the respiratory system, which may cause serious complications, especially for people with certain medical conditions and the elderly.
The ministry would also like to clarify that the vaccine is available in the private health sector for those who are not in the targeted groups.
