MSX Index rises marginally

 Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,349.97 points, up by 0.50 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index remained unchanged at 492.92 points.

National Gas, up 9.23 per cent, was the top gainer while Global Investment Holding, down 8.86 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Ceramics were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 634 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR5.76 million, with more than 21.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded securities, 15 advanced, 13 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR473,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR433,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR40,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7073.52 points, up by 0.68 per cent. Prices of Al Sharqia Investment, Bank Dhofar, Ominvest, National Bank Oman, and Taageer Finance were up by 7.5 per cent, 2.56 per cent, 2.41 per cent, 1.91 per cent, and 1.14 per cent respectively. Prices of Global Financial Investments, DIDIC, Vision Insurance, Oman & Emirates Investment, and Al Anwar Investment were down by 8.86 per cent, 8.33 per cent, 8.26 per cent, 1.35 per cent, and 1.14 per cent respectively.                                                              

Industrial Index closed at 5978.28 points, up by 0.46 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Cables Industry, Oman Flour Mills, and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 9.21 per cent, 3.85 per cent, respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering, National Aluminium, Al Anwar Ceramics, and Oman Ceramics were down by 1.67 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.19 per cent, 0.44 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.26 per cent before closing at 1627.52 points. Prices of National Gas, Dhofar Generating, Ooredoo, Oman National Engineering, and Renaissance Services were up by 9.23 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.16 per cent, 0.88 per cent, and 0.46 per cent respectively. Prices of OIFC, Al Jazeera Services were down by 2 per cent, 1.4 per cent respectively.
