Muscat: In the journey of nurturing young minds and facilitating and promoting various talents, Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir has consistently motivated and inspired their students to participate in various activities conducted in and outside the school.
The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM), Oman’s premier venue for musical arts and culture display, in celebration of its tenth anniversary, announced the launch of a new season for 2022 with a return to live performances.
Invitation was extended by ROHM to all students from the capital schools to participate in their art and music event - L’elisir d’amore – The factory of Ideas, one of the most loved of all Gaetano Donizetti’s operas.
The ISWK team availed of this marvelous and rare opportunity and encouraged their students to participate in this musical opera, though a very rare and unique venture for them.
The versatile team of teachers at the ISWK and the ISWKi took up this challenge and trained 58 young stars to perform 4 songs for the Musical Opera – 3 in English and 1 in Arabic.
The performance which took place on the 9th of March 2022 at the ROHM was an exceptional, incredible and an astounding experience for the children from the school.
The amazingly interactive singing by the children and their involvement in preparing the required props for the event, gave them the feeling of being active participants in the play. They remained connected with the main characters of the story, and this gave them a sense of contentment for contributing towards the Musical opera.
Collaborating with the internationally renowned As. Li. Co-production and singing under the direction of the Music Conductor Azzurra Steri , was not only a fascinating and an enthralling occurrence for the children and teachers of the ISWK team but was also a wonderful learning experience with plenty of key takeaways from the Opera viz. “to nurture the courage and the creativity that we all have in us”, “to take responsibility for our actions”, “to be sincere and kind” and the like, which will assist children to shape their personality and stay at par with the ever-changing demands of the 21st century skills.
The ISWK and ISWKi School Management are indeed thankful to the ROHM for offering this wonderful learning journey for the children of the Indian diaspora to perform with the world-renowned Opera group.
