Over 70,000 cases benefit from social security programme in Oman

Muscat: More than 70,000 cases have benefitted from the social security programme until the end of February 2022.

The Ministry of Social Development said: "The Ministry affirms its commitment to developing social work by supporting and empowering needy groups and building effective mechanisms for social protection."

According to the statistics issued by the Ministry, until the end of February 2022, the number of social security cases reached 72,707, divided into a number of categories:

Elderly category 30,233 cases for which OMR 3,329,843 are paid per month

The category of orphans has 2,300 cases, and OMR 247,459 are paid to them per month

The prisoner’s family category includes 169 cases, for which OMR 26,260 are paid per month

21,555 cases in disability category, for which OMR 2,420,811 are paid per month

3492 cases in the category of widows, and OMR 429,172 are paid to them per month.

The family of abandonment category has 88 cases, for which OMR 12,258 are paid per month

Divorced category 11,439 cases for which OMR 920,059 are paid per month

OMR 291,378 paid to the unmarried women category which covers 3396 cases.

Special category includes 35 cases, for which OMR 4675 are paid per month
