The event, held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre and attended by operators of eight such offices, covers tourism promotion activities in 15 countries around the world and the latest developments in the field.
The forum looked into the outcome of promotional programmes and plans scheduled to be carried out at domestic and foreign levels.
Haitham Mohammed Al Ghassani, Director-General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said that the ministry targets global markets to help augment the flow of tourists into the Sultanate of Oman.
The drive, which includes intensive programmes highlighting the country’s landmarks and addressing specific segments of tourists, seek to maximize economic returns of the tourism sector in cooperation with local partners like airlines, travel and tourism bureaus and companies operating in the field, Al Ghassani added.
The ministry has a preset plan about target countries suitable for opening tourism representation offices, based on the global indicators, said Al Ghassani, noting that the ministry accessed new markets, including China, and reopened offices closed in the aftermath of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Besides conducting activities to increase the flow of incoming delegations and highlighting Oman as an ideal tourism destination, the offices continue to update existing segments about developments and plans in the country.
