Muscat: At a total cost of approximately OMR 800,000, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has maintained 59 falajs that were affected by cyclone Shaheen in North Al Batinah Governorate.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the total cost of maintaining 59 falajs in the wilayats of North Al Batinah Governorate affected by Cyclone Shaheen which were Al Khaboura, Saham and Suwaiq, amounted to OMR 799,000.
The ministry clarified that the number of falajs that were maintained in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura were 35, in the Wilayat of Saham were 18, and in the Wilayat of Suwaiq four with the rehabilitation of a number of water wells.
The percentage of maintenance in the falajs varied, reaching the majority of them to 100 per cent, and some of them ranged between 40 and 80 per cent.
