MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,183.96 points, up by 1.21 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.24 per cent at 497.64 points.

OIFC, up 5.52 per cent, was the top gainer while, Sharqiyah Desalination, down 10.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Omaniya Financial Services were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 942 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR5.9 million, with more than 26.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 51 traded securities, 17 advanced, 8 declined and 26 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net buyers for OMR722,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR488,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR234,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6657.54 points, up by 1.25 per cent. Prices of Al Omaniya Financial Services, Sohar International Bank, Al Anwar Investment, HSBC Bank Oman, and Taageer Finance were up by 4.17 per cent, 3.7 per cent, 3.66 per cent, 3.03 per cent, and 2.35 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Al Batinah Development Company, DIDIC, National Life & General Insurance, and Financial Corporation were down by 2.08 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.        

                                                                                               
Industrial Index closed at 5900.38 points, up by 0.98 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, Al Maha Ceramics, Jazeera Steel Products, Construction Materials, and Asaffa Foods were up by 4.09 per cent, 3.2 per cent, 2.54 per cent, 2.5 per cent, and 1.59 per cent respectively. Prices of National Aluminium, Voltamp Energy, Oman Ceramics, Gulf Stones, and Al Hassan Engineering were down by 1.24 per cent, 1.08 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.3 per cent before closing at 1646.82 points. Prices of OIFC and Oman Telecom were up by 5.52 per cent, 1.94 per cent respectively. Prices of Sharqiyah Desalination, National Gas, Muscat Desalination, Ooredoo, and Oman National Engineering were down by 10 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 2.24 per cent, and 1.72 per cent respectively.
