CPA issues warning to suppliers for ignoring price lists

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority has issued a circular regarding the establishment of price lists for services provided by suppliers.

The authority said in the circular that it had noticed the negligence of some suppliers and service providers in setting price lists for services provided to consumers, such as: repair and maintenance workshops for vehicles and bicycles, maintenance of electrical, electronic and mechanical devices and equipment, oil change shops, driving education shops, furniture detail shops, decoration and interior design and external and other similar services, which is in violation of the provisions of Article (19) of the Consumer Protection Law issued by Royal Decree No. 66/2014, Article 19/14 and Article 24 of the Executive Regulations of the Law issued by Resolution No. 77/2017.

It added that it had taken all legal measures against violators and called on all suppliers and service providers to put a list of applicable prices in a prominent place and to abide by the laws and legislation referred to in order to avoid being subject to legal accountability.
