His Majesty orders additional salary during Ramadan for some sectors

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Thursday issued instructions during the cabinet meeting for the payment of an additional salary to those under social security categories during Ramadan.

“His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, orders during the cabinet meeting to pay an additional salary to social security categories with the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan, and to work to mitigate the impact of the high prices of goods and services on them,” the Oman News Agency (ONA) said.

“His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik directs the establishment of an economic zone at the Procuratorate of Al Rawda in the Wilayat of Mahdah in the Buraimi Governorate, in order to advance the local economy in the Wilayat in particular and the governorate in general and its economic development through establishing projects and attracting investments and capital  money to it and create job opportunities for citizens,” ONA added.

Additionally, His Majesty directed to allocate a suitable sites for the production of green hydrogen with the aim of promoting foreign investment and working to localise this technology, in addition to preparing the necessary studies for this.

“In keeping with the global trend towards reducing carbon emissions, and given the wide uses of green hydrogen for the production of electric power and the provision of thermal energy to local industries, His Majesty directed to keep pace with global transformations in this field and work to speed up the procedures for regulating this sector and setting the legal frameworks and policies necessary for its growth,” ONA said.

For this, included in the organisational structure of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, will be a general directorate concerned with clean energy and hydrogen energy and the establishment of a company to develop this promising sector.
