Los Angeles: In an emotional tribute to Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington, the rock band's bassist Dave Phoenix Farrell said the singer's legacy will live forever in the memories he shared with his friends and fans. In a series of posts, Farrell, 40, took to Twitter to remember his bandmate and friend, who hanged himself at his Palos Verdes residence on July 20.
"A huge part of Chester's legacy will be the memories we hold of him in our hearts. He was an enthusiastic, playful
father. An honest, and passionate musician, and a loyal friend. I've been touched to see memorials that have been held
worldwide," he wrote. Farrell also thanked the music group's admirers for their unwavering support in the wake of Bennington's death. "It goes without saying, this last week has been extremely difficult. The outpouring of love and kindness I've received from friends and fans from all over the world has been incredible. I wish I could personally thank every one of you for your love and support," he wrote.
The bassist also urged Linkin Park fans and followers to share pictures from the events they might have attended in
Bennington's memory. The band also released a statement that read, "Our hearts are broken. The shock waves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened..."
Linkin Park, which cancelled its upcoming tour after Bennington's death, also included a link for fans to share
memories of the late star.
Another bandmember Mike Shinoda also paid his homage to the vocalist by sharing an old picture from the group's
initial days. Bennington's wife, Talinda, in her heartfelt tribute to the "her soulmate", said her children had lost their "hero".
