Muscat: The Department of History at the College of Arts and Social Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University has obtained academic accreditation from the German Accreditation Foundation AQAS, Oman News Agency (ONA), said.
Dr. Ali bin Said Al Riyami, Chairman of the History Department at the College of Arts and Social Sciences, said: "The Department of History seeks to achieve a number of goals, including: working on the application of scientific principles in scientific researches and transforming them into programs that benefit society and institutions related to specialisation and graduating highly qualified cadres with knowledge and research experiences and leadership skills.”
"The Department of History began to obtain program accreditation through several steps, the first of which was to study the selection of the appropriate accreditation institution for the nature of the specialization in 2016. The German Accreditation Foundation (AQAS) was chosen as an international institution for the accreditation of the bachelor’s and master’s programs.”
Dr Ali Al Riyami added that the academic year 2017-2019 was the period of preparing the self-study, preparing the required files and data and translating them in order to prepare for the accreditation institution’s visit.
The accreditation comes from the university’s keenness to provide high quality educational services to its affiliates, in accordance with scientific and professional standards, in order to achieve its vision and mission.
