Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,035.96 points, down by 0.02 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.44 per cent at 488.97 points.
United Finance, up 3.80 per cent, was the top gainer while, Dhofar Generating, down 6.90 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Madina Takaful were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 772 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.67 million, with more than 27.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 13 advanced, 7 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR213,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR116,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR97,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6379.86 points, down by 0.36 per cent. Prices of United Finance, Global Financial Investments, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa, and Vision Insurance were up by 3.8 per cent, 2.82 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 1.04 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Ahlia Insurance, Al Batinah Development Company, Bank Dhofar, Ahli Bank, and National Bank Oman were down by 6.17 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.68 per cent, and 1.09 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5718.8 points, up by 0.44 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Al Maha Ceramics, Jazeera Steel Products, Al Anwar Ceramics, and Oman Cables Industry were up by 2.9 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.47 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.48 per cent before closing at 1639.74 points. Prices of Renaissance Services, Shell Oman Marketing, Sohar Power, Oman Telecom, and OIFC were up by 2.75 per cent, 2.68 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 1 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Dhofar Generating were down by 6.9 per cent.
