Muscat: A number of government employees in the Sultanate of Oman have been sentenced to imprisonment, fines, dismissal from jobs and permanent ban on holding further public jobs due to charges of bribery, said the State’s Financial and Administrative Audit Institution (SAI).
The SAI said in its annual report that a number of employees took bribes from citizens in exchange for facilitating the completion of some of their transactions in one of the authorities.
According to the report, the defendants were convicted of bribery, and given imprisonment sentences for a period ranging between one to three years, a fine, dismissal from their job, and futher bans from holding public jobs.
