Cyclone Shaheen: Loan installments for over 500 cases delayed

Muscat: The payment of loan installments has been postponed for a period of six months for more than 500 cases that were affected by the tropical cyclone Shaheen, said the Housing and Urban Planning Minister.

"The second media dialogue began for the comprehensive transformation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for the current year, during which it reviewed the completion of the Ministry's executive plan for 2022, performance indicators and urban development challenges in the Sultanate of Oman," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, indicated that the value of real estate trading during 2021 witnessed an increase of four per cent to reach OMR 2.552 billion, and revenues amounted to OMR 72.5 million.

His Excellency clarified that 16,300 requests for proof and registration of property have been decided upon. 8,800 requests have been approved, and the rejected requests reached 7,500. The total number of usufruct contracts in 2021 amounted to about 9,300, while the value of the collected fees  amounted to OMR 8,400,000.

"There are two thousand families who benefited from housing assistance in 2021, at a cost of OMR 47 million. 700 housing units have been implemented," the Minister added.

The Minister confirmed that 713 cases were exempted under royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik at an amount of OMR 13.5 million and the payment of the loan installments was postponed for 544 cases affected by the tropical situation "Shaheen" for a period of six months.
