MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,087.67 points, down by 0.12 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.13 per cent at 504.31 points.

Sharqiya Desalination, up 9.09 per cent, was the top gainer while, National Aluminum Product, down 5.71 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 456 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR5.02 million, with more than 28 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 9 advanced, 12 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR160,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR94,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR66,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6516.81 points, down by 0.21 per cent. Prices of Vision Insurance, Bank Nizwa, Bank Dhofar, Muscat Finance, and Al Sharqia Investment were up by 2.22 per cent, 1.02 per cent, 0.85 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Sohar International Bank, National Bank Oman, Global Financial Investments, and Taageer Finance were down by 2.35 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.62 per cent, 1.43 per cent, and 1.22 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5728.64 points, down by 0.23 per cent. Prices of Oman Cables Industry, Oman Flour Mills, Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Cement, and Raysut Cement were up by 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of National Aluminium, Oman Fisheries, Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Ceramics, and Gulf Stones were down by 5.71 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.38 per cent before closing at 1629 points. Prices of Sharqiyah Desalination, Sembcorp Salalah, Oman National Engineering, Muscat Desalination, and Al Suwadi Power were up by 9.09 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.56 per cent, 2.11 per cent, and 2.08 per cent respectively. The price of Al Jazeera Services was down by 1.26 per cent.
