Ministry invites applications for 4,500 academic seats

Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, in cooperation with the committee concerned with the executive procedures for teacher preparation and qualification programmes and in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, announced the opening of applications for registration for the diploma programme for the academic year 2022/2023 and for 4,500 academic seats.

The programme aims to qualify graduates with university qualifications in non-educational disciplines and who wish to join the teaching corps in accordance with the needs of the Ministry of Education in disciplines such as Islamic education, Arabic, English, mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology. It also involves geography, history, information technology, school sports, plastic arts, and musical skills.

The Ministry of Labour said: "In partnership with the Committee on Teacher Training and Qualification Programmes, the Ministry of Labour pays the fees for the qualification of 1,500 candidates within the Omani teacher preparation and qualification programme, with a monthly allowance of 150 Omani riyals during the qualification period."

Higher Education Admission Centre said: "Registration and acceptance for the Educational Qualification Diploma Programme for the academic year 2022/2023, will start from February 13 to March 14, 2022. Coinciding with the start of the registration phase, the Centre issued the programme’s electronic applicant guide, which contains all the dates of registration and admission, conditions for applying to the system, and the specialisations offered. The guide can be viewed through the website of the Unified Admission Center via the link www.heac.gov.om."

The acceptance in the programme relies on the test, personal interviews, and announcing the admission results. This year the system aims to qualify 4,500 graduates in various disciplines.
