Agriculture Ministry issues statement on wheat sales in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources has urged wheat growers wishing to sell their crops to Oman Flour Mills Company to register their names with the Ministry within a period of two weeks.

"The Ministry has renewed the memorandum of cooperation with the Oman Flour Mills Company to purchase wheat crop from farmers in the various governorates of the Sultanate at an amount of OMR 500 per tonne. Farmers wishing to sell their crop to the company must register their names with the departments/centres of agricultural, fisheries and water resources in the various wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman within two weeks from the date of publishing this announcement," the ministry said in a statement.
 
The Ministry has set conditions for the farmers which are as follows:

1- The farmer must  be Omani.

 2- The farmer should have a valid agricultural document.

 3- The wheat crops should be of the Omani varieties registered with the Ministry and of this year's production.

 4- The wheat crops should be pure and not mixed with other impurities and seeds.

5 - The farmer must supply the quantities of the crop himself to the company’s warehouses in the Wilayat of Muttrah in the Governorate of Muscat.
