Hotel guests in Oman increase by 43%

Muscat: The total number of guests in 3-5 star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman till the end of December 2021 stood at 1,219,303 compared to 851,757 guests by December 2020, comprising a rise of 43 per cent, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The total revenues of 3-5 star hotels grew by 19.2 per cent by December 2021 to reach OMR101.668 million compared to OMR85.292 million by the same period in 2020.
Hotels occupancy rates went up by 44.9 per cent from 26.5 per cent by the end of December 2020 to 38.3 per cent by the end of December 2021.

The number of Arab guests scored the highest increase by 97.3 per cent from 24,154 guests by December 2020 to 47,644 guests by December 2021.

This was followed by the surge in Asian guests by 93.5 per cent to reach 141,136 guests by December 2021 compared to 72,930 guests by the end of the same period in 2020. Meanwhile, the number of European guests declined by 40.3 per cent from 176,820 guests by the end of December 2020 to 105,558 guests by the end of December 2021.

Among the nationalities, Omani guests constituted the maximum number of hotel guests by accounting for 67 per cent of the total guests. Their number stood at 814,518 guests by December 2021 compared to 487,804 guests by the end of the same period in 2020.
