MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,151.82 points, down by 0.46 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 1.81 per cent at 501.46 points.

National Finance, up 4.55 per cent, was the top gainer while, Construction Material down 11.11 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Bank Oman were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 399 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.4 million, with more than 25.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 10 advanced, 20 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR44,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR43,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6629.05 points, down by 0.45 per cent. Prices of National Finance, Ominvest, United Finance, Ahli Bank, and Al Omaniya Financial Services were up by 4.55 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 0.83 per cent, and 0.76 per cent respectively. Prices of National Bank Oman, Taageer Finance, Al Anwar Investment, Muscat Finance, and Global Financial Investments were down by 5.5 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 2.3 per cent, 1.72 per cent and 1.47 per cent respectively.            

                                                                                              
Industrial Index closed at 5791.83 points, down by 0.29 per cent. Prices of Raysut Cement, Oman Cables Industry, Oman Flour Mills, Oman Cement, and Al Anwar Ceramics were up by 2.59 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Construction Materials, Galfar Engineering, Al Maha Ceramics, Jazeera Steel Products, and Oman Ceramics were down by 11.11 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.52 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.86 per cent before closing at 1604.65 points. Prices of Oman National Engineering, Al Suwadi Power, Oman Telecom, National Gas, and Al Jazeera Preference Shares were up by 3.57 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.01 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Education & Training, Phoenix Power, Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, and Dhofar Generating were down by 9.61 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 3.09 per cent, 1.9 per cent, and 1.67 per cent respectively.
