Muscat: Fifteen UK universities have been added to the list of recommended universities for study in the United Kingdom, officials announced.

The Committee for the Recognition of Non-Omani Higher Education Institutions and the Equalization of Educational Qualifications held its third meeting of the year, where they approved universities for study, and discussed certain degree certificates around the world and their validity.

The universities granted approval in the United Kingdom include the University of Bedfordshire, the Royal College of Art, the University of West London, the University of the West of Scotland, University of Winchester, University of Bolton, Liverpool Hope University, University of Abertay Dundee, Buckinghamshire New University, Regent's University London, York St John University, University of Wales, University of Law, University College Birmingham, and St Mark & John University.

Other universities approved for recommendation around the world include Saint Mary's University in Minnesota, USA, the University of Findlay in Ohio, USA, as well as the Institut de Hôtés études économiques et Comerciales (INSEEC) in Paris, Republic of France.

They additionally approved the Masters of Human Systems Integration program at the Naval Postgraduate School in the United States.

On the other hand, the committee refused to include Sunway College KL in the list of institutions of higher learning recommended for study in Malaysia because of the lack of readiness of the building, as the educational environment still lacks the necessary services.

They also did not recognize three institutions of higher education in the United States, Carolina International University, Atlantic International University, and The Language Train University, as these institutions were found to be fictitious.

The Committee also rejected the equivalence (attestation) of an individual’s Master of Science in the Strategy of Human Resources Management issued by the Skema Business School in the French Republic in 2013, because the program is not supported by academic accreditation in France.

The committee similarly rejected all Masters of Science issued by Carolina International University in the United States Because the certificates were issued by a fictitious higher education institution.

Moreover, the Committee approved the Bachelor of Commerce Certificate issued by Anwarul Uloom College in association with Osmania University in the Republic of India in 2015.

They also approved the Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Cooperative Science, with a specialisation in Agricultural Economics, issued by the Higher Institute of Agricultural Cooperation in Shubra Al-Khaima, Egypt In 2016.
