MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,202.15 points, down by 0.53 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.05 per cent at 512.98 points.

United Finance, up 3.45 per cent was the top gainer while, Dhofar Generating down 6.15 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of HSBC Bank Oman were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 383 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR3 million, with more than 16.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 8 advanced, 12 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR184,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR135,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR48,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6704.32 points, down by 0.7 per cent. Prices of United Finance, Vision Insurance, Sohar International Bank, Ominvest, and Muscat Finance were up by 3.45 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 0.89 per cent, 0.65 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Bank Dhofar, Ahli Bank, Al Omaniya Financial Services, National Bank Oman, and HSBC Bank Oman were down by 3.15 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.48 per cent, 1.4 per cent, and 0.97 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5861.33 points, down by 0.21 per cent. Prices of Al Maha Ceramics, National Aluminium, Oman Cables Industry, Oman Flour Mills, and Oman Cement were up by 2.33 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, Al Anwar Ceramics and Galfar Engineering were down by 2 per cent, 1.8 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.23 per cent before closing at 1647.36 points. Prices of Oman National Engineering, Oman Telecom, OIFC, Ooredoo, and National Gas were up by 2.86 per cent, 0.52 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Dhofar Generating and Al Jazeera Services were down by 6.15%, 1.79% respectively.
