Muscat: Three persons from the mission of the first national team participating in the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup - Qatar 2022 were infected with the Covid-19, said Oman Football Association (OFA).
"Oman Football Association would like to clarify that the mission of the first national team participating in the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup - Qatar 2022 has undergone a PCR test before heading to Saudi Arabia, where the tests conducted in the Sultanate of Oman revealed the safety of the mission personnel from Covid 19, " OFA said in a statement.
In view of the rapid spread of Omicron, through the second PCR conducted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, three cases of infection were recorded within the mission, two of whom are team players.
Therefore, in order to preserve the safety of the players, and in accordance with the binding procedures established by the International and Asian Football Confederations, the concerned persons have been subjected to quarantine, which will prevent their participation in the match.
