Oman-Egypt Joint Committee holds its 15th session in Muscat

Muscat: The 15th session of the Omani-Egyptian Joint Committee was held here on Sunday at the level of foreign ministers.

The Omani side was headed by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, while Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, headed his country’s side.

The two sides explored various aspects of cooperation and ways of developing them and followed up steps to realise the accomplishments of the next stage.

They affirmed their resolve to press ahead with means of consolidating integration in all economic, commercial and investment fields and all other areas that could open vistas for further collaboration so that they could keep pace with contemporary scientific progress and meet the aspirations of their peoples.

The two sides also discussed key regional and international issues of common concern. They expressed their satisfaction at the level of political consultation and coordination at various levels.

They reiterated their keenness to work hand in hand within regional and international organisations and events in a manner that meets the two countries’ aspirations for the establishment of pillars of international security. They voiced their commitment towards consolidating the march of joint Arab action.

The two sides approved a number of memoranda of understanding and executive plans relevant to bilateral cooperation.

At the conclusion of the session, Sayyid Badr and Shoukry signed the joint communiqué of the 15th session of the Omani-Egyptian Joint Committee.

The communiqué affirmed the depth of historical relations between the two countries and solid bonds binding them under wise directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

In the communiqué, the two sides express their deep satisfaction with the lofty status of bilateral ties. They affirmed their resolve to press ahead with means of consolidating integration in all political, security, economic, commercial, industrial, judicial, developmental, educational, media, labour, social and all other areas that could open new vistas for the realisation of aspirations of their two leaderships and their peoples.

The communiqué stated that the two sides signed memoranda of understanding and executive programmes between their respective foreign ministries for political consultation, a memorandum of understanding in the field of housing and urban development, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the media field, an executive programme to enforce the agreement on cooperation in the legal and judicial field, an executive programme in the field of tourism, an executive programme between the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Technical Education in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The two sides discussed key regional and international issues of common concern and expressed their satisfaction at the level of political consultation and coordination at different levels with regard to those issues.

The two sides expressed their keenness to work together within regional and international organisations and events to achieve their joint interests, meet the aspirations of their peoples and help establish international security and peace. They also reaffirmed their commitment to diligently continue enhancing the march of joint Arab action.
