MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,224.43 points, down by 0.27 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.50 per cent at 512.69 points.

Vision Insurance, up 3.61 per cent was the top gainer while, Voltamp Energy down 7.07 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Phoenix Power were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Ooredoo were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 448 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.16 million, with more than 14.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded securities, 4 advanced, 15 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net buyers for OMR32,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR25,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR7,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6751.82 points, down 0.25 per cent. Prices of Vision Insurance, Al Anwar Investment, Al Sharqia Investment, Ominvest, and Oman United Insurance were up by 3.61 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of United Finance, Muscat Finance, Ahli Bank, Global Financial Investments, and Takaful Oman were down by 1.7 per cent, 1.7 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.47 per cent, and 1.41 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5873.65 points, down by 0.36 per cent. Prices of Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Cables Industry, Oman Flour Mills, Oman Cement, and Al Anwar Ceramics were up by 0.5 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Asaffa Foods, National Aluminium, Al Maha Ceramics, and Raysut Cement were down by 7.07 per cent, 6.25 per cent, 4.13 per cent, 1.38 per cent, and 0.99 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.02 per cent before closing at 1651.23 points. Prices of Musandam Power, Renaissance Services, OIFC, Ooredoo, and National Gas were up by 2.67 per cent, 0.9 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Muscat Desalination, Oman Telecom, Oman National Engineering, and Al Batinah Hotels were down by 1.52 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 1.02 per cent, 0.94 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
