Ministerial decision sets standard for Omani cap, OMR1,000 fine for non-compliance

Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, has issued a decision (No. 21/2022) determining the standards specification for Omani kummah (cap) and stating that a fine will be awarded to those who breach the specification.

Article (1) states that “Standard Specification No. OS1646/2021” is set as the obligatory criteria for making Omani kummah.

Article (2) awards a fine of OMR1,000 to violators of the provisions of this decision and doubles the fine in case of repetition of the offence.

Article (3) states that this decision shall be enforced from the date of its publishing in the Official Gazette.

The decision is a guard against prejudicing Omani kummah industry and affirms its standard specifications. It also explains the materials and other requirements for making the cap and its stages of stitching and embroidering.
