ROHM presents Verdi masterpieces

This sparkling concert at the Royal Opera House Muscat celebrates Giuseppe Verdi’s great genius, with arias and duets selected from some of his most popular works, such as Nabucco, Il Trovatore and many others. In the world of opera, Verdi is recognised as the leading composer of nineteenth-century Italian opera and universally admired for a richness and depth of dramatic characterisation in musical expression, an innovation with which he transformed traditional Italian opera. Singers from those performing in Rigoletto are accompanied by the Orchestra and Chorus of Fondazione Arena di Verona under the baton of Jan Latham-Koenig.

The concert is enhanced by the participation of the Omani Opera Choir Group, an elite choir of Omani singers who have received a vigorous training in classical singing and represent the capacity and depth of Oman’s cultural development.

The Fondazione Arena di Verona is an acclaimed company, hailing from Italy. Famous throughout the world for their season of outdoor productions in the Arena, where performances have taken place for 1990 years since its construction in 30 AD between the reign of Augustus and the reign of Claudius. The arena is the largest Roman amphitheatre still in use and the Fondazione celebrates 98 Opera Seasons and 107 years since the first edition of the Festival. The programme for the concert honouring Verdi touches on some of the most beautiful moments across his opera canon.

All visits to the opera house are conducted under the guidelines of the Supreme Committee responsible for measures to tackle the development of Covid-19. Social distancing is maintained throughout the building and the wearing of facemasks is mandatory. The show is on January 23rd at 7pm. For more details, download the app or check the ROHM website.
