Mid-air collision of Indigo flights averted over Bengaluru, DGCA assures strict action

New Delhi: A mid-air collision between two Indigo flights from Bengaluru to Kolkata and other from Bhubaneswar was averted over the Bengaluru airspace following miscommunications between radar operators and ATC officials, according to  the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) sources.

"On January 7, 2022, two IndiGo flights 6E 455 (Bengaluru - Kolkata) and 6E 246 (Bengaluru - Bhubaneswar) were involved in breach of separation at Bangalore airport," the DGCA official told ANI.

The incident of a serious safety breach was reported to the DGCA and a team under DGCA Director General Arun Kumar was constituted for an investigation.
