1315 new coronavirus cases reported in Oman

Muscat: More than 1,300 people in Oman tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, 18 January, 2022, according to figures released by the Ministry of Health. 1,315 infections of COVID were recorded, alongside 240 recoveries. No additional deaths from the coronavirus took place.

The updated results mean that since the start of the pandemic, 314,853 people have tested positive for the virus, while 302,762 people have recovered. Oman’s recovery rate from COVID-19 is 96.2 percent.

Sadly, 4,122 people have died from the disease. There are currently 98 people admitted to hospitals for COVID-related complications. 39 of them were admitted in the 24 hours leading up to the 18th, while 14 of them are in intensive care.

The Ministry of Health has reminded everyone to continue maintaining the precautions required against COVID-19.

“With our commitment to wearing masks and maintaining social and physical distancing, we will prevent ourselves, our families, and our community from the spread of the coronavirus,” advised the ministry.

People have been asked to get fully vaccinated and/or boosted as soon as they are able, to keep themselves and others safe from the virus.
