Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police confirmed that a fire broke out this morning, which led to the explosion of three petroleum tankers in ICAD 3, Mussafah, near ADNOC's storage tanks. The fire has claimed the lives of three people from the Indian and Pakistani communities.

A statement issued online by Emirates News Agency, ( WAM ), said: ”Abu Dhabi Police announces control of the fire that broke out this morning in the Musaffah ICAD 3 area near ADNOC tanks, which led to the explosion of three petroleum tankers. The accident resulted in the death of a Pakistan national and two Indians, and the injury of  six others who sustained minor to moderate injuries.”

A minor fire also broke out in the new construction area of Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the cause of the fires are small flying objects, possibly belonging to drones, that fell in the two areas. “The competent authorities began an extensive investigation into the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding it,” the statement added. Besides the loss of lives, there are no other significant damages resulting from the two accidents.
