MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,240.53 points, down 0.62 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.84 per cent at 519.21 points.

Taageer Finance up 4.00 per cent, was the top gainer while, Al Batinah Development down 18.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Vision Insurance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Al Anwar Ceramics were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 651 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.7 million, with more than 11.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded securities, 6 advanced, 24 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR53,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR49,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR3,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,761.89 points, down 0.61 per cent. Prices of Taageer Finance, National Bank Oman and United Finance were up by 4.00 per cent, 1.91 per cent and 1.70 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Batinah Development Company, Ahlia Insurance, Al Sharqia Investment, Bank Dhofar, and Oman & Emirates Investment were down by 18.00 per cent, 8.94 per cent, 6.25 per cent, 5.84 per cent, and 3.13 per cent respectively.              

          
Industrial Index closed at 6,015.56 points, down 0.19 per cent. Prices of Jazeera Steel Products and Al Anwar Ceramics were up by 2.55 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively. Prices of Voltamp Energy, National Aluminium, Asaffa Foods, Galfar Engineering, and Al Maha Ceramics were down by 9.17 per cent, 8.87 per cent, 8.09 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.       

                    
Services Index was down by 0.81 per cent before closing at 1,651.43 points. Oman National Engineering was the only gainer, up by 1.03 per cent respectively. Prices of Sharqiyah Desalination, National Gas, Dhofar Generating, OIFC, and Renaissance Services were down by 6.42 per cent, 3.79 per cent, 3.08 per cent, 3.07 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively.
