Mumbai: A tow truck (pushback tug), which manoeuvres an airplane before it takes off, caught fire at the Mumbai International Airport on Monday afternoon around 1 pm local time.
The tug was attached to a flight with 85 passengers onboard which was departing for the city of Jamnagar in the neighbouring state of Gujarat. No one was injured in the incident and a major fire disaster was averted, agencies said.
An airport official was quoted by ANI as saying, “The Mumbai-Jamnagar flight has 85 passengers onboard, the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. There is no harm to any person. All operations are normal.”
