The most popular event on the national sporting calendar and Oman’s biggest race, Al Mouj Muscat Marathon aims to inspire and foster healthy lifestyle habits in all participants, especially children.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon for another year as it enables us to promote healthy choices whilst encouraging the vitality and celebrating the spirit of the city,” said Humayun Kabir, Chief Executive Officer, ABQ Education Group. “We believe that physical health is as important as mental health and want to inspire the community to live healthily and pursue active lifestyles, starting at a young age with students”.
“We are excited to have ABQ Education Group come on board as a key sponsor of the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon 2022, as well as being the race category sponsor of the kids’ races. ABQ is an esteemed name in the Sultanate and this partnership is built on a shared commitment to elevating the health and well-being of children,” says Nic Cartwright, Managing Director of Sabco Sports.
One of the most popular features of the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon, the kids’ races have always drawn a large number of youngsters, with many participants travelling from across the country to take part. Along with the excitement of running the race, children enjoy the fun, cheerful atmosphere that the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon brings and experience the same thrill on race day as runners in the adult races, including receiving an event t-shirt and medal.
A total of 4,000 young runners are expected to participate across the three short-distance races. As part of ABQ Education Group’s initiative to instil healthy habits in children from a young age, the organisation will be donating 300 kids’ race tickets to government school students. The Al Mouj Muscat Marathon organisers, Sabco Sports, encourage inclusion and are working with the Ministry of Education and Oman School Sports Association to provide children with special needs the opportunity to also participate this year.
ABQ Education Group, a pioneering and iconic presence in the Omani private education sector, continues to shape the future with its revolutionary approach to learning. ABQ was first established in 1990 and is now the largest international school operator in Oman. Students from all three ABQ International Schools - ABQ Azzan Bin Qais (in Bawshar), ABQ Sohar, and ABQ Seeb will participate in the various short-distance races.
