Tender Board awarded projects worth over OMR252 million in 2021

Muscat: The Tender Board awarded projects worth OMR252.5 million in 2021 against projects worth OMR392.2 million in 2020.

Last year, the award of tenders focused on completion of a number of infrastructure projects which the government had started executing in the past.

The Tender Board also awarded several tenders in vital sectors such as health, education and road.

The health sector topped the list by receiving the bulk of tenders awarded by the Board, last year.

This included supply of medicines and vaccines  for 2022 for the Ministry of Health and other  five government departments for OMR37 million, catering, food, cleaning, laundry and pest control services for the hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health for OMR17.8 million, supply of surgical materials and other  consumables for the Ministry of Health for OMR7.9 million.

Regarding the airport sector, the Tender Board awarded in 2021 a project for the completion of the electrical, mechanical and other works and the equipment associated with the cargo buildings of Muscat International Airport and Salalah International Airport, repair, testing and operation of the system and training of employees on operating equipment and programmes at the above project for OMR 24.6 million, approximately.

The Tender Board also awarded tender for a project for rehabilitation of the southern runway and air corridors of Muscat International Airport for OMR 21 million.

The Tender Board awarded a project on the design and construction of Wadi Al Meih Road in the Wilayat of Al Amirat, Muscat Governorate for approximate sum of OMR19.1 million among other projects.

The Tender Board also awarded tender for provision of transport services for students of Sultan Qaboos University for 2021 -2022 for OMR4.2 million and supply of computer systems to school students under social security scheme  for OMR3.5 million.
