MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,172.14 points, up 0.61 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.36 per cent at 528.46 points.

Al Omaniya Financial Services up 2.36 per cent, was the top gainer while, Takaful Oman down 6.67 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Omaniya Financial Services were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 233 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.92 million, with more than 8.85 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded securities, 7 advanced, 13 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR48,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR29,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR19,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,659.63 points, up 0.09 per cent. Al Omaniya Financial Services, Taageer Finance and Ahli Bank were up 2.36 per cent, 1.39 per cent and 0.87 per cent respectively. Takaful Oman, Oman & Emirates Holding, Global Investment Holding, Madina Takaful and Al Anwar Investment were down 6.67 per cent, 3.08 per cent, 1.59 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,047.52 points, down 0.15 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics were the only gainer by 0.93 per cent. Oman Fisheries, NAPI, Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement and Al Maha Ceramics were down 1.72 per cent, 1.46 per cent, 1.33 per cent, 0.83 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.03 per cent before closing at 1,632.33 points. Sembcorp Salalah, Omantel and National Gas were up 1.37 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services, OIFC and Al Maha Marketing were down 0.93 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively.
