Over 62,000 SMEs registered in Oman till November 2021

Muscat: The total number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) registered in the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development till the end of November 2021 increased by 30.4 per cent to reach 62,335 compared to 47,802 in November 2020, according to the data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Among the governorates, the Governorate of Muscat topped the list by reaching 21,068 enterprises, comprising a rise of 31.5 per cent, followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 9,830, comprising an increase by 30.4 per cent, the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah with 7,604, going up 25.9 per cent and the Governorate of Dhofar by 5,318, constituting a surge by 33.7 per cent compared to the same period in 2020.

The total number of SMEs registered by the end of November 2021 recorded an increase in the Governorate of South Al Batinah by 33.1 per cent to reach 4,742, the governorate of North A’Sharqiya by 27.9 per cent to reach 4,110, the Governorate of South A’Sharqiya by 32.2 per cent to reach 3,738, the Governorate of A’Dahirah by 24 per cent to reach 3,454, the Governorate of Al Buraimi by 28.9 per cent to reach 1,321, the Governorate of Al Wusta by 33 per cent to reach 831 and the Governorate of Musandam by 73.4 per cent to reach 319.
