MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,146.81 points, up 0.42 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.26 per cent at 530.37 points.

National Aluminum Product, was the top gainer, up by 4.48 per cent while, A'Saffa Foods down 7.37 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 603 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.15 million, with more than 10.86 million shares changing hands. Out of 35 traded securities, 16 advanced, 3 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR14,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR11,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR4,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,602.20 points, up 0.37 per cent. Oman & Emirates Holding, Taageer Finance, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Al Anwar Investment and Bank Muscat were up 3.17 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.48 per cent, 2.15 per cent and 2.07 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,083.95 points, up 0.12 per cent. NAPI, Galfar Engineering, Oman Cement and Al Anwar Ceramics were up 4.48 per cent, 4.11 per cent, 0.81 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively. Asaffa Foods, Raysut Cement and Al Maha Ceramics were down 7.37 per cent, 2.42 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.48 per cent before closing at 1,628.65 points. Al Suwadi Power, Phoenix Power, OIFC, Oman National Engineering and Ooredoo were up 2.08 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.38 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively.
